Play Bridge Online — Free Card Game
Bridge is the king of trick-taking games: bid an auction to set the contract, then play it out with your partner while one hand is exposed as the dummy. This is Rubber Bridge, with full contract scoring, slams, and the rubber bonus. Play Bridge free in your browser.
How to Play Bridge
Four players in two partnerships bid in an auction to name the contract — how many tricks over six their side will take, and in which trump suit (or no trump). The winning side then tries to make it.
The play
- Suits rank low to high: clubs, diamonds, hearts, spades, then no trump.
- After the opening lead, the declarer's partner lays their hand face-up as the 'dummy', and the declarer plays both hands.
- Follow suit if you can; the highest trump — or the highest card of the led suit — wins each trick.
- Make your contract to score below the line; 100 below the line wins a game, and two games win the rubber.
Doubles
If the opponents bid a contract you expect them to fail, you can double to raise the stakes — and they can redouble.
Strategy & Tips
- Open the bidding with about 12 or more high-card points (Ace 4, King 3, Queen 2, Jack 1).
- Use your bids to describe your hand to your partner — the auction is a conversation.
- As declarer, count your sure tricks and make a plan before playing to the first trick.
- Draw the opponents' trumps early when you hold a solid trump suit.
- Keep track of your entries to the dummy so you can reach its winners.
