Play Euchre Online — Free Card Game
Euchre is the fast, addictive partnership trump game played with just 24 cards. Name trump, take at least three of the five tricks, and race your partner to 10 points. Watch the bowers — the Jacks rule the trump suit. Play Euchre free with a computer partner.
How to Play Euchre
Four players in two partnerships are dealt five cards each. One card is turned face-up; players bid to make its suit trump, and the team that names trump must win at least three tricks.
Playing the hand
- Follow the led suit if you can; otherwise play any card, including a trump.
- Trump beats every other suit; otherwise the highest card of the led suit wins.
- The Jack of the trump suit (the right bower) is the highest card; the other Jack of the same colour (the left bower) is second highest.
- Win 3 or 4 tricks for 1 point, or all 5 for 2 points.
Going alone
The player who calls trump may go alone, setting their partner's cards aside. Sweep all five tricks alone and score 4 points.
Strategy & Tips
- Count on the two bowers and the trump Ace as near-certain winners.
- Only call trump when your hand can realistically take three tricks — being euchred hands the other team 2 points.
- Remember the left bower counts as a trump, not as a card of the suit on its face.
- Lead trump to draw out opponents' trumps when you hold strength.
- Go alone only with a commanding hand — the 4-point bonus is tempting but a euchre is costly.
