These are the terms for using this site. They are short, and none of them are surprising.
Using the site
Everything here is free for personal, non-commercial use. You do not need an account and you do not owe anything. By using the site you accept the terms on this page; if you do not accept them, please do not use it.
No gambling and no prizes
Nothing on this site involves real money. There are no wagers, no purchasable currency, no prizes and no cash-out of any kind. Where a game keeps a score or a chip count, those numbers are part of the game and have no value outside it.
What you may not do
- Republish the written guides or the game code as your own, in whole or in substantial part.
- Scrape the site at a volume that degrades it for other people, or run automated traffic against it.
- Attempt to break, deface or gain unauthorised access to the site or its hosting.
- Frame or embed the games on another site in a way that presents them as somebody else's work.
Linking to any page here is welcome and needs no permission.
Ownership
The written guides — the rules explanations, strategy sections, variant lists and histories — and the game code and design are the work of the site operator and remain their property. Quoting a short passage with a link is fine. Reproducing whole pages is not.
The games themselves are traditional and belong to nobody: Hearts, Cribbage, Chess and the rest are centuries of common inheritance. Only these particular implementations and these particular texts are claimed. Where a variant carries a trademarked name, that trademark belongs to its owner and is used only to identify the game.
Accuracy
I have tried hard to make the rules and history correct, and the games are tested against the rules published on their own pages. Card games nonetheless vary by region, and history is argued over. The guides describe the version implemented here, which may not match the version you grew up with. If something is wrong, tell me and I will fix it.
No warranty
The site is provided as it is, without warranties of any kind. I cannot promise it will always be available, that every game is free of bugs, or that it will work identically in every browser. To the fullest extent the law allows, the operator is not liable for any loss arising from your use of the site — which, given that the site is free and the stakes are a game of Solitaire, should not be a difficult undertaking to accept.

Covered separately and in detail in the privacy policy. In brief: no accounts, no personal data collected, and your statistics stay in your own browser.
Changes to these terms
These terms may be updated; the date above will change when they are. Nothing here affects the statutory consumer rights you have where you live.
